320° Licht

320° Licht, a light installation at Gasometer Oberhausen, creates a “cathedral of light” inside of an 112-meter high former gas tank. The projection mapping installation by URBANSCREEN displays graphic animations on 320°, approximately 20,000 square meters, of the interior of the industrial petroleum tank using 21 high-powered Epson projectors.

“Through loads of tests we found out that you don’t see the surface and that the space has a depth which can be controlled with the projection of shapes. You can create illusions that wouldn’t work on a white surface.”  – art director Till Botterweck
